Adding your Podcast to Blackboard

To make your podcast accessable through your registered class on Blackboard, you will need to paste the code sent to your e-mail when you registered your podcast into an HTML Block in your Blackboard course

Creating an HTML Block in Blackboard

By default, the new version of Blackboard uses the Visual Text Box Editor which allows you to easily edit text. Unfortunately, you can't paste html code in the Visual Text Box Editor and have it work correctly.  The solution is to turn off the VTBE.  Once you¹ve done this, you will get the old text box with the Smart Text, Plain Text, and HTML choices with which you are familiar.

To turn off the VTBE, do the following:

  1. Go to the MyUM tab in Blackboard.
  2. Click on the Personal Information link in the Tools box on the left.
  3. Click on the link to Set Visual Text Box Editor Options.
  4. Select Unavailable and click Submit.
Now you should be able to copy and paste the html code into any announcement or course document being sure to select the HTML option for the text block.

Once you¹ve successfully added the code, you should turn the VTBE back on so that you can use it for other announcement/documents in your Blackboard course.
